What is Cravio? How the quit-sugar app actually works
Updated 2026-10-06 · Wellness education, not medical advice
Cravio is a private iPhone app for people who want to quit sugar or cut it down. It is built around the minute an urge shows up, and around the days after that minute. You get support during cravings, a streak that does not hide slips, a guided journey of about 90 days, and a way to see added sugar in food.
It is a wellness and education app. It is not medical treatment, not a calorie or macro tracker, and not a weight-loss scoreboard. If you are looking for a diagnosis, a diabetes plan, or a program that ranks your body, this is the wrong product.
The short version people search for — Cravio, the Cravio app, Cravio no sugar — is the same product: an iOS guide with a 3-day Premium trial, then a subscription. English and German. iPhone only.
What you can actually do in the app
When you feel like eating sugar, or you already did, Cravio opens in-the-moment support. You can pause, breathe, reframe the bite, use a short calming tool, or play a brief game while the urge is loud. If you had sugar, you log it. A separate urge log is for looking back later, on the Journey tab. Those are different jobs: one is the heat of the moment, the other is the record.
The streak is meant to stay honest. Setbacks are framed as learning moments. The app does not pretend a slip never happened, and it does not turn the slip into a speech about your body.
The journey runs about 90 days, across named phases. An orb on the home screen changes as milestones pass. That is a visual record of the streak, including longer marks out toward a year if you keep going. It is not a prize for losing weight.
Onboarding builds a personal plan. The line about your focus right now is written for this stretch of the journey. The rest of the plan follows your progress rather than a generic poster.
Weekly reports look at what went well, where cravings showed up, and what to pay attention to next. They are a short review, not a grade.
Food Scan reads a meal photo, a barcode, or a food label. It estimates total sugar, added sugar, and natural sugar, shows a simple score from 0 to 100, and can suggest one lower-sugar swap when added sugar is high enough to matter. Treat the number as a guide. Meal photos are not perfect label reading, and the app does not count calories.
Between cravings there are everyday tools: breathing, soundscapes, a mood check-in, a short diary, a quote pledge, and five short lessons. The lessons unlock as you stay consistent — at the start, then around days 7, 14, 21, and 30. There is not a large course library hiding behind that.
Short games exist for the minutes an urge is loud. They are a way to put your attention somewhere else while a craving wave passes. They are not a public competition, and Cravio does not claim a real multiplayer ranking.
What Cravio is not
It is not a free app with a locked cosmetic skin on top. Without Premium, the main experience stays behind the trial and the paywall. The App Store trial is 3 days. After that, monthly or yearly through Apple keeps it open. Cancel in Apple’s subscriptions whenever you want.
It is not a medical device and it does not diagnose sugar addiction. Public health groups do recommend eating less free sugar and less added sugar. That is a diet guideline. It is not the same sentence as “you have a clinical addiction, and this app treats it.”
It is not a glow-up or “skinny” challenge. Skin, weight, and attractiveness are not the point of the product we describe here. People sometimes notice steadier energy, sleep, or mood when they cut added sugar. Those are common stories, not guaranteed outcomes.
Food Scan is not a calorie AI clone and not a promise of perfect OCR. If a scan looks wrong, trust the package label in your hand.
How the pieces fit together
A normal day looks like this. You open Home and see the streak, the next goal, and the orb. If an urge hits, you get support in the moment instead of negotiating with yourself in the kitchen. If you slip, you log it. Later, Journey shows the week and the phase. Tools cover breathing, sound, mood, the diary, and lessons. Food Scan is there when you are staring at a label and want a plain read on added versus natural sugar.
The method is ordinary on purpose: notice the urge, delay it, tell the truth in the log, and follow a phased stretch of about 90 days. Breathing, sound, and a short distraction are companions for the wave. They are not a clinical treatment, and Cravio does not claim a trial that proves its specific games cure sugar use.
If you want the research notes behind “less added sugar” and “cravings are trainable,” start with the other pieces in Learn. They cite the World Health Organization, the American Heart Association, and the careful reviews on whether “sugar addiction” is even the right phrase.
Before you download it
People usually want to know three practical things. First, the language in the app is English or German. Second, it is iPhone only. Third, the trial is how you see the real product: three days of Premium, then a monthly or yearly plan through Apple. If a page online promises a free toolkit that never ends, it is describing a different business than the one in the App Store.
You will also see an onboarding flow. Answer it straight. It is there to set a focus, not to score how “dependent” you are for the internet. Do not treat any number in onboarding as a medical test. Cravio does not diagnose you.
Food Scan will tempt you to over-trust a photo. Use it when you want a fast read on added versus natural sugar and a single swap idea. If the score surprises you, flip the package over and read the added-sugars line yourself. The scan is a helper. The label is the source.
The tabs are simple once you are in: Home, Journey, Tools, and Profile. Home is the streak and the next step. Journey is the week, the urges you logged, and photos if you choose to keep them. Tools is the calm stuff — lessons, mood, journal, breathing, soundscapes — plus short games for a loud minute. Profile is the plan, billing, and settings. If the site and the phone disagree, trust the phone. This page is trying to describe that phone, not a prettier fictional app. Open it, take the three-day trial, and see whether the pause is something you will actually use.
How Cravio helps
If this description matches the help you want, Cravio is that app: support while a craving is happening, a streak that keeps slips on the record, a journey of about 90 days, a personal plan, weekly reports, and Food Scan. Premium starts with a 3-day trial. There is no free forever version of the main app.
